Delhi: A City of Museums is a beautifully designed guide and reference book for tourists and art, history and culture enthusiasts. Delhi showcases the country's absorbing geographical, political, social and art history in the range of fascinating museums found within its limits. The author has compiled in this volume a bird's eye view of ten important museums in the city. Each chapter is walk through the history of the exhibitions of each museum, and is lavishly illustrated with striking photographs. In departing from conventional formats of guide books and catalogues with few exceptions, the only forms of information available currently on museums in Delhi the author has accomplished the demanding task of presenting an admirably readable account of tem prominent museums in Delhi. The museums selected have been established in the last fifty years, post India's independence, but some have antecedents in pre-independence India. The narration reflects the painstaking research and infectious enthusiasm of the author, as well as an abiding interest, closing the gap between the wealth of information that museums provide and our own lives.
The book opens with a foreword by notes arts and cultural theorist, Kapila Vatsyayan.
