THE FORBIDDEN TEMPLE: stories from the past
THE FORBIDDEN TEMPLE: stories from the past
Description
About the Book:

How was everyday life for children long ago? Did they have pets? Did foreign students feel homesick? What was it like to go shopping in a big city? What sort of games did they play?

In this book, imagination takes off from carefully researched fact to create ten fascinating stories of children from times past, panning India's history from around 3500 BCE onward, Alongside are interesting bits of information-easy to absorb, just enough for added atmosphere. Finely etched images come together in collages to illustrate each story. A perky ant leads the trail through a very visual activity section that makes tracking history so much fun!

About the Author:

T. V. PADMA did a post-doctoral research in Chemical Environment Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, USA. Her poems have been published in India, the USA and the UK, and were nominated for the Pushcart Prize. She has contributed children's stories to Indian and foreign magazines, and has written two series of books for children. Her other interest comprise a long list that includes yoga, art, hiking, canoeing, horse riding and scuba diving.

BHAVANA VYAS created these illustrations while studying at Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. This book carries many 'firsts'-It is the first time she has worked with black and white, it is her first book with Tulika and her first book for children. She wished she could draw as fast as she thinks in pictures and hopes to make a living as a happy children's book illustration.
