About the Book:
A Movement for Literature, originally published as Illakkiyathukku Oru Iyakkam in Tamil, discusses a wide range of literary works and writers form various nations and periods, including world epics and ancient as well contemporary classics. These essays were written not to impress or dazzle but to share that joys of literature with laymen and intellectuals alike.
About the Author:
Ka. Naa. Subramaniam or Ka. Naa. Su(1912-1988) as he is popularly known is among the few Tamil Writers most widely known, read and discussed in India. He has carried the image and massage of Tamil writing and literature to the far corners of the country. In the thirties, which was a period of intense literary activity in Tamil, Ka. Naa. Su. Along with pudumaipittan stood out as writers who remoulded the thought and tradition of the ancient land the people in the crucible of modern literary forms and expressions inspired by the masters of European Literature.
Venkat Swaminathan (b.1933), the Translator, is a Tamil Essayist and critic. He has several published works to has credit including Ilkkia Oozhal, Paalaiyum Vaazhayum, Ethirpu Kural, En Paarvayil and Kalai Vaazhkhai Anubhavam Velippadu (all criticism & essays). He also writes on Theatre, music, dance and other arts.
