In a clam, unobtrusive way, this painting allows for the mellow, pensive refinement of the subject to come through, inherently bound with delicate sensuality and natural dignity. Use of contour shading gives a sense of weight and mass to the form and it also emphasizes the way these two forms fit together on the picture surface; it integrates rather than separate forms. Oil paints on canvas are considered a European source but it is used here in a way totally compatible with traditional sensibilities and techniques.

These two figures moving heavenwards provide intimation of a related story and attitude not narrated on the canvas. The figure draped in yellow garment has a broad face, eyes seemingly shut as she looks towards the young girl she is holding so lovingly. The gentle smile on her lips and the serene expression suggest inner contentment and joy. Beauty needs no ornaments, hence she wears simple rings in the ears, a couple of pearl strings in the necks, a set of bangles and beaded strings for anklets. She wears a yellow loosened sari without a bodice. Her hair is loose and falls on her shoulder. The young girl with a slightly upturned nose, a glint in her eyes, a quirk of smile on her lips looks towards the elderly woman trustingly as she clings to her. She wears a red saree and a brocade blouse and has her hair neatly tied in a bun and decorated with a flower. She has a human appearance as much as the elderly woman has a celestial bearing. One is affected not only by color and line but by personality as well.

The golden yellow clouds in the blue sky provide a suitable setting to this tale of the celestial beauty. There is a feeling of certain softness in the natural setting. What adds to the beauty of the theme is the extra ordinary vibrancy of color.
