Eight Forms of Ganesha

Eight Forms of Ganesha

Kalamkari art is a very famous artwork of India. This style of art has gained immense popularity throughout the world because of its vibrant colors and intricate theme. Kalmakari paintings are either hand-painted or block-printed on cotton textile. kalmakari paintings and textiles are produced in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Artists use only natural dyes and intricate methods to make these beautiful artworks. It involves twenty-three steps to complete a kalmakari art. Kalmakari artwork is influenced by Hindu mythology, Hindu deities and scenes from the Hindu epics - Ramayana, Mahabharata, Purana.

This amazing kalmakari painting depicts the Eight Forms of Lord Ganesh or “Ashtavinayak'', the son of Shiva and Parvati. The eight forms of lord Ganesha are, Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Mahodara, Gajanana, Lambhodara, Vikata, Vighnaraja, and Dhoomravarna. Lord Ganesha can be seen in different poses in all the eight forms. In his first form he is sitting and beside him is his vehicle mice with a sweet ball. In the second form he is standing and there are fishes around. In the third pose lord Ganesha can be seen seeing on the other side with a trident in his right hand. In the fourth pose lord Ganesha is sitting with a plate of sweet balls in his left hand.

In the fifth form, Ganesha is playing Veena, Indian classical instrument. The sixth form is of dancing Ganesha, in the seventh form Ganesha is busy playing mridanga (a barrel shape drum), and in the eight form Ganesha can be seen playing flute. The whole painting looks like a temple with all the eight forms of Lord Ganesha bestowing his blessings. Ganesha, the cute little God is known to remove sufferings and problems from the worshipper’s life. This classic Kalamkari Painting is done on Cotton. The size of the painting is 68 inch X 42 inch. I received the kaftan today via FedEx. Your care in sending the order, packaging and methods, are exquisite. You have dressed my body in comfort and fashion for my constrained quarantine in the several kaftans ordered in the last 6 months. And I gifted my sister with one of the orders. So pleased to have made a connection with you.
