Shivalingam Flanked By Trident And Nandi

Shivalingam Flanked By Trident And Nandi

Shivalingam Flanked By Trident And Nandi

A vividly coloured Madhubani painting, a visual retelling of pure bhakti. Often translates to devotion, the Sanskrt word ‘bhakti’ bears connotations of unconditional love as opposed to devotion. Nandi is the vahana of Lord Shiva, the paralokiya taurine creature with the strength and invincibility of a thousand of its ihalokiya kind. In this work He is resolved into two bulls on either side of the Shivalingam that forms the midline of the composition. They nuzzle the trishool (trident) on either side of the Lingam as they look up to it with the greatest veneration in their eyes.

Peacocks of brilliant plumage and verdant canopies punctuated by slender bits of brown shoot. A minimalistic yet precisely finished edge that frames the painting on all four sides. The earthy cream base colour, indicative of the organically treated canvas. All of these are the staple of Indian Madhubani paintings, a form of folk art that has been a way of life in the plains for many generations now. From the thick black lines to the blotches of vibrant colour those are filled in with, this is an authentic Madhubani work of art that would be a valuable addition to your home decor.

I’ve started receiving many of the books I’ve ordered and every single one of them (thus far) has been fantastic - both the books themselves, and the execution of the shipping. Safe to say I’ll be ordering many more books from your website :)

I received the kaftan today via FedEx. Your care in sending the order, packaging and methods, are exquisite. You have dressed my body in comfort and fashion for my constrained quarantine in the several kaftans ordered in the last 6 months. And I gifted my sister with one of the orders. So pleased to have made a connection with you.
