On one side of the painting stands a hermit in obeisance, with folded hands and an expression of subservience on his face. This is indicative of the divinity of the woman figure which is also strengthened by the halo behind her head.

The exotic beauty of the female, the night lotus in one hand and the auspicious kalash in the other hand point towards her being Sri, the goddess of love, beauty and prosperity. She is depicted here as a fair maiden with tender eyes, in the flush of beauty's pride. Her beauty and aura shines through the painting, and she wears gems and pearls on her smooth body. Her hair is coiled at the neck as she wears a red lotus in it. She holds the blue lotuses delicately between her thumb and the forefinger. The pot containing rice and coconut symbolizes bounty and prosperity. She holds that in the raised palm of her left hand.

She appears for the hermit meditating in the severe conditions amongst the high rise mountains seen in the background. The hermit was meditating with the motive just to secure her 'darshan' or her vision. Pleased by the dedication of the sage, Sri decided to show herself in her most benevolent form. That she has suddenly appeared with a gust of wind is evident by the impression the artist gives in the lower part of the painting, around the deity's body.

The painting embodies the stuff of dreams. It is visionary in theme and treatment, fraught with poetic nostalgia. By the use of mesmerizing colours, the artist gives an impression that he is depicting the reaches of the introspective eye.
