A one-of-a-kind Lord Hanuman chhavi (image). Sculpted from a block of fine-quality marble and finished with great skill and dexterity. From the fluid white colour, one discerns the nuances of the musculature of His limbs, the mass of hair resting on His shoulders, and the deeply withdrawn composure of His simian countenance. A simple engraved crown graces His keen brow.
Upon a slab of marble He is seated, His legs gathered afore Him in a contemplative asana. A bolster rests beneath the right knee, a sharp detail within a composition of almost eerie symmetry. The hands of Lord Hanuman are brought together upon His lap; the palms turned skywards are placed one upon the other as is the norm with antaranga yoga. Such a superb Hanuman murti would be a fine addition to the space of a yogi.
