The dog is a widely loved animal. It is a symbol of cross-cultural adoration, because in almost all cultures it is valued as a friend and companion, even a family member. The figurine that you see on this page is of a typical Indian mongrel. It has a compact, slender body, complemented by a protruding nose and a long neck. It is seated in the usual relaxed position of dogs, with its head raised and tilted to a side. A very telling stance, as if it is searching something out with its gaze.
Note the burnished finish of the skin and the attention to detail that has gone into the composition. From the undulations of the musculature to the lines against the ribs and neck, the work you see on this page is indeed a lifelike one. Both the tail and the ears are down, which conveys a temperament that is calm and gathered. The body language of the creature is indeed a result of the bliss of domestication. This sculpture would make for an unusual element in your home decor.
